Searching Out Available Teaching Jobs

By Marguerite Stanton

It does not have to be difficult to find employment. There are many teaching jobs in Chicago that are available. School district sites and well as the local classifieds are some great places to search. A large amount of schools now have their own devoted sites to allow for job searches and posting of resumes.

You can also try state career boards for listings. Be sure to check the dates when posted as some information can be several months old and still up on the employment board even though they might have been filled.

Even though cuts have been made to education, there are plenty of positions to be had. Teachers who are highly qualified are able to find opportunities that might not be available without their qualifications. Do not limit yourself regular schools. Charter schools, non profit institutions and private schools are other options to look at.

Since math, science and English are mandatory subjects, there is a permanent need for these positions. When doing an employment search, narrowing down the list by what subject you can teach will let you be able to look at strictly at that availability.

For someone that has not taught, you can still look into certification and training programs to see what type of employment you would be able to get upon completion. There are programs that let you work in a classroom while obtaining your certificate. Some schools will help place you in a school that allows working while completing school.

For those seeking teaching jobs in chicago employment positions, try using many different searches. Look for teacher boards that might have postings up. Try posting an ad that you are looking for work. It does not hurt to try and network with another teacher or someone already employed in a school. Local and state boards should also be used.
