Sophie The Giraffe Baby Teether

By Gary McAlistair

Apart from seeing your child sickly, seeing them in pain from an unavoidable part of developing is probably by far the most worrying periods a mother or father encounters. A lot of us adults have experienced some type of tooth ache which has justified a visit to the dental office, which is often most likely what us dads and moms believe our infants go through whenever they begin teething.

Being a parent to a two and a half years old as well as a 4 month old I'm currently facing the 2nd stage of 1st teething. It really is quite distressing to observe a really young baby in so much apparent discomfort trying to chew, even chunk down on anything at all they could get hold of.

Our own Practical Experience With Sophie The Giraffe

Pretty much by accident we found a teether which we had not heard of, despite its accomplishment over the past half a century. Its name is Sophie the Giraffe, and as its name suggests it really is the same shape as a giraffe. Basically it's just like a kid's toy and it is made from natural rubber (latex) that makes it safe, especially in a whole world of toxic scares with numerous kid's products.

Sophie has continuously been available for fifty years and is still produced in France today. According to a French pal of mine, every child in France has got one of these teethers and it has grow to be something of a national icon.

There are plenty of benefits we have identified with it, seeing just how our four month old is enjoying it. For starters it's comparatively smooth to touch, enabling the child to chunk straight down as strong or as soft as is necessary. This is a significant difference to all the different baby teethers we had experimented with. There are several angles which our son is able to approach it from, often using the legs and the ears to get pain relief.

Next, it is very simple for very young infants to grasp onto Sophie the Giraffe, given that the legs, body along with long neck are of diverse width. Our infant got familiar with working with and angling it within a day or two.

Thirdly, compared to a young infant it is quite large and it has no unfastened or maybe removable parts. This means that it does not pose a choking hazard.

Just One Small Downside

Sophie The Giraffe makes a squeaky noise even with the lightest touching. Although this isn't actually an issue with our four month old, the 2 1/2 year old loves to have fun with what she sees as a plaything. Throughout the initial couple of days it absolutely was a novelty and all of the endless squeaky noise did grind on our nerves, nonetheless as the novelty let off the sound level abated too. Regardless of this down side we find that this nonetheless merits the award of the greatest baby teether.
