The world is in a bad state, financially and politically leading many to ask, who's got it better than us. Many have pondered the greenness of the grass elsewhere but is there anywhere in the world in a a more advantageous position than us?
Most countries are in political or economic crisis. Some internationally known, like Italy and Greece, but they are not alone. Many countries are in the same situation, just on a reduced scale. Businesses are collapsing, people are made redundant and shops shut down leaving an empty shell.
Some blame the media for the recession, at least in part. It has constantly been reported in a scare-mongering way which means everyone is worried about what will happen. Consequently they don't spend money, which causes a business decline resulting in companies closing down and people made redundant.
We need to think about the the world in another way. They are going through similar financial problems but they may still live a preferable life. For an English person, any country with a more desirable climate, is believed to be better.
Even with financial collapse imminent Italy, has the best fresh produce, whether fish, vegetables or pasta. Egypt, in the final throws of a revolution and the inevitable violence and uncertainty, certainly have cornered the world markets in regard to ancient monuments, fresh food and of course sunshine.
So, stop worrying about the recession and where the best country to work could be, and think of the other things each place has to offer. All passions and desires, no matter how bizarre, can be sated somewhere. But the question, 'who's got it better than us?' remains with a depressing negative answer. Life is not necessarily better, just different. whos got it better than us
